Profile
Richard Guay was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec on September 5, 2008. In this capacity, he defines the orientations and coordinates the operations of one of the largest institutional fund managers in Canada and North America. Mr. Guay also sits on the Caisse’s Board of Directors and chairs the Executive Committee.
He continues to carry out the duties of Chief Investment Officer. As such, he supervises six investment groups for which he manages asset allocation and index selection in addition to establishing their value-added objectives.
Background
Richard Guay joined the Caisse in 1995. In November 2002 he was appointed Executive Vice-President, Risk Management and Depositors’ Accounts Management, before being promoted to the position of Chief Investment Officer in March 2006.
Mr. Guay holds an M.A. in Economics from Queen’s University, an M.Sc. in Finance from HEC Montréal and a Ph.D. in Finance and Economics from Queen’s University. He taught finance at HEC Montréal from 1989 to 1994.
