Profile
Ghislain Parent joined the Caisse in December 2002. In his current position, he heads the teams responsible for accounting, control, financial governance, operations (investment platforms, middle office and back office) and business services. He is also responsible for relations with credit rating agencies and oversees the operations of subsidiary CDP Financial. Mr. Parent is a member of the Caisse’s Executive Committee and serves as Chairman the Board of CDP Financial. Ghislain Parent also sits on the boards of subsidiaries SITQ and Ivanhoe Cambridge and on Cadim’s Investment and Governance Committee.


Background

Mr. Parent is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with extensive finance and audit experience. He began his career with Clarkson Gordon (now Ernst & Young) as an Auditor and Senior Auditor. He also worked for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions of Canada as Senior Inspector in Montréal, before joining Desjardins-Laurentian Financial Corporation as Director, Financial Analysis. Ghislain Parent continued his career at Laurentian Bank of Canada, first as Vice-President, Audit and Security, and later as Vice-President and Chief Accountant. Before joining the Caisse, he worked for the International Monetary Fund as Senior Advisor, Banking Supervision, Africa region.

Connections
Mr. Parent sits on the Board of Directors of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec. His mandate is effective until September 2010. From 2003 to 2007, Mr. Parent was Chairman of the Board of Directors of non-profit organization Quartier International de Montréal (QIM), whose mandate is to carry out complex urban development projects in Montréal. In 2004 and 2005, Ghislain Parent was actively involved in the solicitation of financial sector corporations as part of the Centraide of Greater Montreal fundraising campaigns. In 1995, he took part in the Governor General of Canada’s Study Conference. For eight years, from 1988 to 1995, Mr. Parent participated at various levels in the correction process of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Uniform Final Examination.
