Taking up Tomorrow’s Challenges
Over the coming years, the Caisse will face a number of challenges relating to changes in financial markets and the world economy, more rapid advances in technology and the grouping together of increasingly diversified expertise.
To take up these challenges, the Caisse has implemented a three-year strategic plan which will help it achieve its objective of becoming a benchmark organization among institutional fund managers.
FOUR PRIORITIES
The strategic plan revolves around four main priorities and mobilizes the efforts of all Caisse employees.
Return
Return is the very reason for the existence of a fund manager such as the Caisse. This priority has several components:
- Enhancement of depositors’ investment policies through quality advisory services;
- Active investment management so as to generate added value;
- Implementation of innovative investment strategies;
- Caisse presence in new promising markets;
- Creation of profitable external partnerships with other industry players.
Economic Development
The Caisse is one of the pillars of the Québec economy. Since its creation in 1965, it has played an active role on financial markets and in the business financing and real estate sectors. The Caisse’s contribution to Québec’s collective wealth is achieved through:
- The financial return it generates on behalf of depositors and, by extension, all Québecers;
- Its investments in numerous companies and the support it provides to their next generation of leaders;
- Its investments in the real estate sector;
- The spin-offs of its activities on the financial marketplace;
- Its social commitment and that of its employees.
Management Framework
The Caisse continually strives to perfect all aspects of its management by drawing on the best possible practices in the investment field. It has developed a rigourous plan as a framework for all of its management functions
, namely:
- Planning;
- Organization;
- Execution;
- Control;
- Valuation;
- Communication;
- Reporting;
- Optimal resource use.
Operational Levers
The Caisse has established several measures to enhance the efficiency of its teams and activities. This priority includes four points:
- Human resources excellence;
- Rigourous, dynamic risk management;
- Leading-edge research;
- Technology and operational efficiency.
