The Caisse has been investing in the private equity sector since the early 1980s. As Canada’s largest investor in this field, it is a first-rate partner as a result of its expertise, substantial financial resources, reputation, the speed with which it can act on opportunities and its extensive global network.

To better deploy its financing offer in Québec, Canada and abroad and better serve certain sensitive or neglected market segments, the Caisse works with other investors to create partnerships or enter into co-investments.

We look for highly-successful partners with expertise that is complementary to our own and with assets in North America, Europe and Asia. These are mainly first-quartile funds, institutions or well-established financial groups.

Our partnerships and co-investments propose solutions designed to meet specific needs in various market segments, including:

• Small- and medium-sized business financing
• Leveraged buyouts
• Investments outside Canada
• Venture capital

THE STRENGTH OF PARTNERSHIPS
In these market segments, the Caisse enters into partnerships to increase the capital offered and gain access to complementary expertise and a better knowledge of the market or share risk. 

The Caisse also takes part in setting up funds specializing in business financing and large-scale private equity investments, together with banking institutions, pension funds and other investors.

Financing start-ups and growth companies in the information technology and life sciences sectors is often part of the venture capital market segment. In order for these businesses to have access to sufficient sources of venture capital and the right expertise, the Caisse collaborates with local and foreign funds that are active in Québec. Their managers are more familiar with the market and issues pertaining to these industries.
