The Caisse focuses primarily on Québec medium-sized businesses operating in sectors under expansion. It adopts a personalized approach to determine its financing offer, which ranges from $2 million to $25 million.

SPECIAL FUND FOR QUÉBEC MANUFACTURERS
Medium-sized businesses in Québec’s manufacturing sector operate in an increasingly difficult environment and are facing significant pressure.

In October 2006, the Caisse created the Québec Manufacturing Fund. It is the main sponsor of initial funding of $100 million.

The Fund’s objective: Contribute to increasing the operational efficiency of plants. Consequently, it helps companies acquire the necessary means to achieve the following:

  • Face competition from countries with emerging economies, such as China;
  • Overcome the lower profitability resulting from the rise in the Canadian dollar;
  • Enhance productivity;
  • Invest in new equipment and automation;
  • Take up the challenge of succession.

Medium-sized manufacturing companies with their head office in Québec and annual revenue above $20 million can obtain financing of $5 million or more. The Fund favours an approach based on active participation in the management of the companies in which it invests.

ACCÈS RELÈVE: PROVIDING FOR THE FUTURE
The Caisse has developed a program (Accès Relève) to help businesses manage the transfer of ownership. More often than not, this is a complex process, which can sometimes even destabilize the company. To increase the chances of succeeding in this area, it is vital that the process be planned a few years in advance.

With many company presidents from the baby-boomer generation reaching retirement age, the pace of ownership transfers will quicken.  Given its global, multidisciplinary approach, our program will be of precious help to companies facing this challenge.

A Structured Approach
Implementing a succession plan takes several years. In order to do so successfully, it is important that each step be followed.
