Act, Regulations and Policies

An Act Relating Specifically to the Caisse

In 1965, the Assemblée nationale du Québec passed a specific law in order to create the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. This law:

  • Defines the Caisse’s mission and governance rules;
  • Indicates which organizations can entrust it with their funds;
  • Presents the types of investments the Caisse can make in order to earn a profit on its depositors’ funds.

The legislation governing the Caisse has undergone a few amendments in order to reflect new realities, such as the changes in the investment profession and environment over the years.

Management Framework
In addition to the act that created it and any other law with which it must comply, the Caisse is subject to various regulations and regulatory standards or instruments established by the different relevant regulatory bodies.

Over the years, the Caisse has also developed various policies, guidelines as well as control and management tools and mechanisms required to fulfill its obligations.

All these items help ensure the Caisse has the proper framework for its responsibilities and profession to be carried out with rigour, efficiency and transparency.
